KYCO-CSP Collaboration with Bukit Beruntung Shelter Home
13 May 2026
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
KYCO-CSP Team together with Senior Students of our CSP Education Assistance Program visited the Bukit Beruntung Shelter Home yesterday.
The Home was established 15 years ago by the Founder Mr M, out of compassion for abandoned children, elderlies, and the homeless. Presently there are 30+ residents staying in the Home, comprising mostly young and teenage school children, 5 of whom are Slow Learners.
The Home places great importance on education and the children goes to school and also help out in the planting of flowers and herbs. Since inception, the Home has nurtured graduates and those currently pursuing higher education who come back to help out during holidays
The main source of income for the Home is derived from sales of potted plants grown in the Home compound and these are sold by the Founder in many places out of state as well. Earnings however are insufficient to sustain the Home, especially with the increasing number of the Abandoned folks seeking to stay in the Home.
Yesterday’s visit was our second following an earlier visit where we had found urgent need for the Home to gain financial independence by assisting the Young and Elderly Residents, providing help on practical skills that could promote the Founder's Business, uplifting their livelihood and self sufficiency
The CSP Team had a fruitful discussion with the Founder and several ideas were mooted:
1. Senior Students under our Education Assistance Program will spearhead projects involving the children by rendering help on equipping children with useful n practical living skills.
Their first task will be to teach Conversational Mandarin to the children, enabling the kids to help sell and promote potted plants in wider localities beyond Indian Festival related areas. Other upskilling may include digital marketing and business skills. These initiatives will not only help towards the Home’s sustainability but also raising the self confidence and turning around the lives of these less fortunate members of society
2. Help provide essential tools like laptops/computers to enable online learning. This also means CSP student helpers can teach life skills online including the learning of Mandarin. Currently none of the school children including those in secondary school levels own any digital tools including mobile phones
3. Improve livability of the Home environment with beds, open wardrobes , staircase, etc
The Home also has expressed needs for other assistance and these will be attended to when more details are known
Yesterday’s Visit was especially gladdening as Senior CSP Students took advantage of the Visit by talking to the children, building rapport, and started teaching the kids to introduce themselves in Mandarin.
To everyone’s great surprise, the young ones including a few Slow Learners showed huge enthusiasm and ability to speak their first Mandarin words
This is indeed a great encouragement and inspiration, sparking hope for all concerned, not just for the Home but also KYCO-CSP to kick-start this Project for uplifting the lives of the Residents, especially the Young Lives
We are deeply grateful to all who are readily giving your caring love and helpful support in every way. This also
includes the generosity and commitment towards lifting the project off the ground and seeing to its progress.
Thank you and deepest Gan Ern!!
